Weinmann Educational Scholarship 2009

Weinmann Medical Technology and the NZ Rural General Practice Network are delighted to announce the call for applications for the inaugural Weinmann Educational Scholarship.

The scholarship is available for travel and conference / course fees for a rural nurse or general practitioner to attend a conference or course of study in 2009 that is relevant to rural general practice. This can be for an international or national conference or course of study.

The total scholarship fund is $10,000. The selectors retain the right to award all or part of the scholarship to either one person or several, as they deem appropriate.

Recipient(s) of the scholarship will be announced at the Cocktail Function of the Network’s 2009 conference on March 27.

Criteria for selection

Applicants must:

Be a rural general practitioner, rural nurse or rural hospital doctor currently working in rural health in New Zealand.

Be a current member of the NZ Rural General Practice Network at the time of application and the time of completion of the course of study/ conference attendance.

Have demonstrated leadership qualities in their profession, in the area of rural health.

Be prepared to deliver a paper or abstract to the 2010 conference regarding the use of the scholarship funding.

How to apply:

As part of the application process, each applicant is required to write a brief essay describing his/her educational goals and the importance of receiving a scholarship.
