Advocacy, networking, peer support, regular and informative publications, reduced rates at the Network’s annual conference and media promotion are some of the benefits of Network Membership.
Our motto is: “Rural Health Solutions”.
Membership covers Full and Associate Membership and caters for a wide range of rural clinicians and affiliated people and organisations.
New practice rate offers significant Membership saving
We are pleased to announce that from 2012 onwards two options are available for paying Network Membership levies: a significantly discounted practice rate and the existing individual rate.
The practice rate was approved by the Network’s Board earlier this year and offers a tiered pricing structure based on the number of staff per practice. The new rate collectively gives all staff in a practice Membership under the existing categories:
Full Membership with voting rights (Rural GP/MOSS and Rural Nurse/Nurse Specialist/Nurse Practitioner, Rural Hospital Nurse)
Associate Membership with no voting rights (Midwives/Rural Practice or Hospital Managers/Other Health Professionals).
Invoicing across all categories will be done for the six months from January 1 to June 30, 2012 to bring the process in line with the financial year – it is currently based on the calendar year. All members will thereafter be invoiced for the full financial year from July 1, 2012.
The Network is also intending to offer the option of dual membership with the soon-to-be-formed Rural Hospital Network (RHN), details of which will be revealed soon.
The Network is the foremost professional organisation advocating for the rural general practice workforce to benefit the rural communities they work in. The Network’s focus includes raising awareness in Government of the importance of rural general practice and the wider rural health team in supporting the economic backbone of the country.
Ongoing issues include:
* The provision of equitable after-hours services
* Reviewing the Rural Ranking Score
* Succession planning in the rural general practice workforce.
The Network also incorporates two recruitment services – NZLocums and NZMedics.
NZLocums is the only Government-funded rural General Practitioner and Nurse Practitioner recruitment service in New Zealand. Under this Ministry of Health contract general practitioners with a rural ranking score of 35 or more are eligibile to apply for a two-week break once a year as well as assistance with filling long-term and permanent vacancies.
NZMedics is the urban medical recruitment arm of the Network specialising in urban general practitioners, hospital doctors and specialists.
