Conference 2018 – an ‘outstanding success’

Start date - End date:
5 Apr 2018 - 9 Apr 2018
The Pullman Hotel, Auckland

More than 480 delegates attended the Network’s conference in Auckland this month, an event Network Chairperson Sharon Hansen describes an “outstanding success”.
“We had four days of compelling speakers, topics, research, forums and social events. We hosted the Minister of Health Dr David Clark, microbiologist Siouxsie Wiles, Australian rural and remote rural health research expert Professor John Wakerman, leading representatives from Otago, Auckland and Waikato Universities who discussed the proposals for a new school of rural health/medicine, our very own dynamic Great Barrier Island nurses and authors Leonie Howie and Adele Robertson, and we heard the latest from the National PRIME committee headed by Dr Tim Malloy.
“The gala dinner and awards night was a glittering affair and the whole conference was ably guided by MC extraordinaire Adrian Te Patu.
“My congratulations to all the award recipients on the night including Dr Keith Buswell who received the Peter Snow Memorial Award and Aotea Health on Great Barrier Island which received the Rural General Practice of the Year Award.”
Ms Hansen said the exhibition and trade area was also a massive success.
“The exhibition area was full and fully utilized by delegates during the breaks. The catering was superb and the Pullman Hotel was a fabulous venue. I want to extend my thanks and congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s event. I also want to thank the New Zealand Rural Hospital Network, RHAANZ, Mobile Health, the Pat Farry Trust and Conference Innovators for their involvement.”
